Sarah Edwards, aka Ward, is one of our awesome captains for this year! Born and raised in Seattle, Ward, who is now a junior, has played Ultimate since 6th grade and brings valuable experience to Element. Upon talking to her, it’s clear that she absolutely loves Ultimate and the spirit of the game. She values the respect and integrity that Frisbee players exhibit and enjoys watching players develop. One day, she hopes to participate in Ultimate Peace in the Middle East, which is an Ultimate Frisbee camp designed to utilize Ultimate as a tool for building friendship, trust, and leadership. Outside of Frisbee, Ward enjoys playing the piano and even played the fiddle when she was young! Her dream job used to be becoming a performance pilot for the Blue Angels, but then someone told her that only men could do it. That’s okay though, because she has developed a passion for social justice, having already traveled to El Salvador three times through her church, and is now majoring in law, societies, and justice. Ward is an amazing teammate with a huge heart. Aside from being a nanny for four kids, she and her family also fosters kittens for the Seattle animal shelter. Sarah Edwards exhibits the qualities valued in Ultimate, both on and off the field, and we are definitely thankful to have her on Element.
